So... I may have had way too much fun with this set of photos. The Graviton Orb by Deadly Nightshade is both gorgeous and a lot of fun to play with - it's a stunning accessory on your own, plus you can shoot people with it via mouselook! Pyew pyew! The orb comes in 8 color versions, so it can match just the color scheme of any dystopian future you might find yourself in.

Player One

I don't even want to admit how much I spent getting this set... but it was so worth it, I LOVE it! And I'll be wearing it for /a while/, so don't mind if I start to smell or something. Gamerfunk happens you know? :P

About some of the items! The Deo (read: RAINBOWWWWW) Deep Space Cat Eyes are the newest group gift over at .:Soul:., so make sure you pop into the mainstore and snag you a copy!

This amazing outfit, a collaboration between Foxes & Grixdale is available in a TON of colors at the current round of The Epiphany. Bad news bears for non-Maitreya users, this is a Maitreya exclusive! Good news for Mait ladies... it fits SO well!

The neat background effect is by E.V.E, and is one of three colors they offer at Fantasy Faire - 100% of the money spent on those vendors gets donated to Relay For Life, so get to buying! This neat cyber effect has so many different possibilities, and I am thrilled to keep playing with it!

Fantasy Faire : Quest Prizes

Part 3

[The Plastik] made me squee with this adorable and creepy jewelry set, which is one of the two prizes they offered for the Fantasy Faire quest treasure room. Creepycute stuff is quite possibly my biggest weakness, so this cat set is right up my alley! Get it? Alley? Cat? No? Well... not everyone can appreciate a genius pun!

One thing I also LOVE about this set is that you can adjust it... so I made a copy of the choker and made it HYUUUUGE. Can I just have a cute demon cat head follow me everywhere?!

This is just ONE of the 70+ prizes offered for completing the Fantasy Faire Quest! There are only a few days left to complete this quest, so rush over to any of the Faire sims and pick up your HUD! Stop reading, seriously! You have no time to waste!

Part 2

Anachron and DRD both wowed me with their rewards for completing this year's Fantasy Faire quest. This epic mask is from Anachron, and the watertower below is from DRD! What else could I do but rush over to the San Mora sim and snap some pictures with friends? If you like post-apocalyptic stuff, make sure to but the Quest HUD and finish it by the 30th for these amazing items! And stop by San More and take some pictures - this sim is designed super well and is an amazing photospot! I'll be sad to see it go.

Regular Quest HUDS are available on all the Fantasy Faire sims for 250$L. If you pay 350$L for the Deluxe version, you'll also get a questing outfit included! Basking in the Golden Glow

In this post, I want to focus a bit on items with versatility. Being able to customize your items and make them fully represent you is a HUGE asset in SecondLife. From nice HUDs, plenty of color options, or the ability to adjust size and texture... every photographer in SecondLife knows the joy of tweaking an item until it suits the photograph perfectly!

For example, the claw choker I am wearing in these pictures? It was actually originally a bracelet by Bliensen + MaiTai at the current round of Genre, but since it's unrigged, you can wear it as a choker, forehead accessory, anklet, or even garter! I love it when a creator intends for an item to be used a certain way (in this case, the theme of the event was "Underworld", which is decidedly not the theme of this picture!) and users use it in surprising ways.

Also unrigged are the Wicca earrings by [The Plastik], and each color of these comes with a wonderful HUD!

The hair is a **free** re-opening gift from Exile. This is ALSO unrigged! This is pretty rare for hairs nowadays, but it's awesome for re-positioning in photos. Plus, it's a free fatpack of editorial hair... I mean... what is not to love?

Another GREAT item I'm wearing is the Mythic Ears by [Gauze&Trap], which were just released at Fantasy Faire. These bad body come with a similar HUD to their previous ear releases... which is awesome. You can adjust the skin tone, highlight color, shadow color, pattern texture, and even make your ear tips glow! I can only hope that they continue to collaborate and make even more ears, because these are a must-have.

Fantasy Faire : .:Soul:.

All I can say is this: if you have a Gyouko skin from .:Soul:., turn on that shine and play with some lights! The iridescent quality of this skin is multiplied, in this case giving me an amazing poisonous look. There are special editions and regular releases of this skin (male and female!) available at Fantasy Faire - this particular one is a regular release, and will be available in-store after the event... but honestly why would you wait?!

And, I'm /just saying/ if you buy more than one, you can mix and match the tattoos for a more customised skin, as the tattoo comes with an extra separate applier! .:Soul:. wows me again with their unique approach to fantasy skins and beautiful texturing.

The Faire is only in SecondLife for 4 more days, so get there while you can! The exclusive 100% donation skins as well as the special edition ones won't be around forever!

Why I Relay

Truth be told, I have been blessed not to be touched intimately by cancer in my life. I know people who have lost loved ones, but I myself haven't. I know that I am the exception, rather than the rule. But... I have experienced loss. I know how it feels to lose someone you love. It's never fair, and it never makes sense.

One reason why I love the Fantasy Faire is that it is dual purpose. The fundraising efforts are monumental and honestly pretty humbling.. but also the Faire is beautiful, isn't it? I think that pairing those fundraising efforts with the creation and showcase of beautiful things helps serve as a reminder. Life is beautiful. SecondLife is to me, first and foremost, a platform for artistic expression. For so many people all over the world to gather together and direct that towards a goal that helps so many people? It's amazing. And inspiring. Ultimately that's why I relay: you all inspire me to.

Don't Mistake Her Calm For Kindness

This is your last chance to but Lumae's 2015 line of skins, including this gorgeous Djinn tone. Djinn comes with a plain version, as well as one with dotted eyebrows and one with this awesome face paint. There are 20 sets of skin on final sale for 100$L. After one month, they will be retired for good, after Lumae reveals her new homestead sim mainstore, which is an exciting move for the brand!

In other news, this freakin' Woodland Watcher set by Disorderly at n21 caught my eye... and my wallet! But who am I to resist dryad goodness? The Woodland Home rare (the gorgeous base of vines wrapping around my avi) comes with edging, in case you're a container garden dryad, and comes with 4 built in poses! It's also attached to the avatar center, so you can also use your own poses, like I did! I'm so glad that I decided to play this machine!

Fantasy Faire : [The Plastik]

If you haven't played the Deera Gatcha by [The Plastik] at Fantasy Fair (TP to the booth >>HERE<<), you are missing out on some SERIOUS cuteness. These adorable deer avatars come with antlers, eyes, multiple tail options, and their very own AO! They root around, stamp their feet, and when bound along instead of running! The machine is 150$L per play, BUT I say that's a super nice deal for a full avatar with its own AO! If you want one but aren't a gacha person, there is also a Relay For Life exclusive purple one for 199$L right next to the machine!

I found out today that they make EXCELLENT gifts, and can brighten the day of friends who are feeling a bit low or bored. Luckily I still have a few to hand out for rez days and holidays, or just.. rainy days! It was predictably easy to tempt eight other people to join me in playing with these avatars. These are guaranteed to make you smile!

For other amazing creations by [The Plastik], check out their >>MAINSTORE<<

Fantasy Faire : [Gauze&Trap] .:Soul:. Wasabi Pills

Don't you love when items match perfectly?! I always wonder if the creators coordinate secretly and just don't announce that some things match... but then again, maybe they're just on the same wavelength for some events! In this case, the [SE D4] version of .:Soul:.'s Ceredil skin goes PERFECTLY with two of the Fantasy Faire exclusives by [Gauze&Trap], the Faun Legs - Short :Demon: and the Fuzz Gloves: Demon. The multi-colored flame motif on both remind me of an oil slick, and that's just... neat! This Fantasy Faire exclusive hair by Wasabi Pills, Adamaris, also coordinates really well!

Keep in mind that the Fantasy Faire exclusives really ARE exclusive - you can only grab them for the 10 days when the Fairelands overlap our world. And the 100% of the proceeds from those purchases go directly to Relay For Life... so if you're going to shop at the Faire, PLEASE browse those items first! Exclusive pixels *and* a great cause? That's what we like to call a win-win!

If you'd like to stay up to date on the goings-on for the Fantasy Faire, keep an eye on their site >>HERE<<, and join the in-world group, which is free! There is always a DJ event, art exhibit, auction, or even just silly chat happening.

Fantasy Faire : [The Plastik] & [TRAP]

I love when my favorite brands team up! This time, Plastik and Trap got together to make these amazing Koen (male) and Koie (female) skins. There are multiple versions for the face, from bare to the full version, which I'm wearing, as well as a ton of body appliers. I say to *always* demo, but really the big challenge here is going to be which color you choose.

Also, pictured behind me is one of the amazing sim builds for Fantasy Faire. There are so many gorgeous sights to see, it will take me forever to photograph everything that I want to!

Damn, It's Good To Be The Queen

.:Soul:. hits it out of the park yet again with their line of Ceredil skins debuting at Fantasy Faire. This is the hibiscus tone, which is appropriately purple! Each skin features the neat flame design in different colors, as well as a separate tattoo applier... so you can mix and match! (Customization is *the best*!) There are male and female versions, as well as a slew of appliers available.

A little heads up, also: the .:Soul:. VIP group is free to join for the duration of the Faire, so make sure you join! (Group gifts are usually awesome fantasy skins and eyes, so it's definitely worth the group slot!)

Fantasy Faire : Belle Epoque Exclusive Interview

In my continuing quest to bring faces to names and make sure people know that creators are people too, I sat down with Janire Coba, owner of the Belle Epoque clothing brand. Janire is sweet, hardworking, and very forthcoming! She has two gorgeous new gowns for Fantasy Faire, including the one pictured above and below! The Oriana gown is delicate and soft, and makes me think of either a lounging courtesan or fragile Sybil. The dress is offered in 7 colors, and has Maitreya Lara and Slink Hourglass sizes.

Credits and interview below!

Dress - Belle Epoque "{ Oriana }" @ Fantasy Faire

BranwenAlcyone: First of all, hello and thank you for agreeing to this interview!
Janire Coba: I am more than happy to be here with you!
BranwenAlcyone: I'd love to talk a little bit about your brand, Belle Epoque. It's pretty well known for having a softer color palette, is that a conscious decision or do you just enjoy those tones yourself?
Janire Coba: I do find soft colors very dreamy. I am not a soft woman, so I guess I like to surround myself by softness! *giggles*
Janire Coba: I want Belle Epoque items to make women feel soft, delicate, feminine. They make me feel that way, and I like it!
BranwenAlcyone: That's such an interesting approach! And SecondLife is such a great tool for exploring contrasting sides to our natures.
Janire Coba: Yes, it is!
BranwenAlcyone: I know that your items definitely make me feel like a vintage pin up model!
Janire Coba: Do they? That's amazing, because that's my favorite style in both worlds, RL and SL *laughs*
BranwenAlcyone: I like that it's such a recognizable style, but there is still so much wiggle room in terms of creativity.
BranwenAlcyone: You've told me before that you love to create  vintage and fantasy items the best. What are some of your inspirations when you sit down to create?
Janire Coba: Well, when I was a child I used to tell my mum when I saw something from the 50's, "Mama, i was born too late, i missed all these dresses and music!"
Janire Coba: She always answered, "Janire, now you'd be old!" And laughed at me hahaha! I just love those innocent romantic times, when everything was beautiful. And fantasy...
Janire Coba: I lived a rough childhood, and spent my days daydreaming in my room; now i can daydream while I work *winks* Let's say my childhood and youth was ugly, and now I am a grown woman, I want my life to be beautiful!
BranwenAlcyone: I completely understand that. I'm so glad that SL has been a good outlet for your daydreams. And it certainly shows in your soft and dreamy items! When you're creating your items, how long does, say, a dress usually take from start to finish?

Janire looking like the vintage beauty she is

Janire Coba: Let's say a week, once I open Blender or Maya, until I finish the vendors. A week if my 3D teacher doesn't have to correct it! If he does, it can take almost two weeks!
BranwenAlcyone: Oh, are you in school for 3D creation? That's exciting!
Janire Coba: No I am not, I had to hire a 3D teacher when events asked for original meshes; I am too clumsy to learn by my own! I admire those designers who learned by watching tutorials, I tried, and found it a circus *laughs*
Janire Coba: In fact, today I asked a SL friend to help me with a dress because it was impossible to rig it.
BranwenAlcyone: I did notice the shift from template items to original work, and I'm very impressed. Not every creator would take the time to learn a new set of skills like that.  Do you feel more connected to the items that you've created from scratch?
Janire Coba: Well, I didn't sell a single item I created from scratch until I thought they were... decent and respectable *laughs*
Janire Coba: I was learning 3D while I was selling full perm meshes in my store. I am too humble, and perfectionist, I wasn't ready to sell my own items. So before selling items made by me from scratch, I hired a mesh maker. In fact, nowadays I keep asking that person for help! Blame my clumsiness *giggles*
BranwenAlcyone: Sometimes it's easy to forget that creating items takes a LOT of skill and education, as well as plenty of experience when problems come up!
Janire Coba: And customers tend to forget there're like 5 mesh bodies, and some of them have different options *fakes a faint*
BranwenAlcyone: And those are just the big brand names!
Janire Coba: Indeed!!
BranwenAlcyone: So you're participating in this year's Fantasy Faire. Can you tell me a little bit about your items for the Faire?
Janire Coba: I can and I will! I made two dresses as new releases, one of them is a sexy silk gown, inspired by... Game of Thrones and Arabian Nights, I wouldn't know how to explain it, I want my girls to look damn sexy and super expensive! And then I went rural and wild and made a dress from the XVIII century. A Scottish one!
BranwenAlcyone: Those sound amazing! I can't wait to try them both on. :) What's it like, participating in such a huge event?
Janire Coba: Oh well, when I was a newbie back in 2009, I was a fairy. Now I see my old pics, and I was so damn ugly, you wouldn't believe it *laughs* but I thought I was the cutest thing on Earth! Someone talked to me about Fantasy Faire, and as soon as I got there I fell in love. It's been my favorite event since then. So to me, it's unbelievable to join it as a designer!  And on top of the amazing items, beautiful sims and funny experiences, we get to help people with Relay For Life, which means the world to me.
BranwenAlcyone: That's such a sweet outlook on it! What's your favorite part of the Faire, as a participant? Do you do the big quest or attend events?
Janire Coba: My favorite part is when everything is ready for the opening, when you can walk around and admire what everyone has been working on. And then the event opens, and I look at the map and see all those crazy green points and I pray for everything to be ready and perfect for them all! Because I've been a customer, and you never know what to expect when you're TPing there, it's the craziest event of all!
BranwenAlcyone: It's my favorite, too. I love when all of the stoppers get taken out and everyone lets their creativity go wild!
Janire Coba: Last year i was so busy I couldn't enjoy the Faire, ao this year I promised myself I'd take some free days to be a visitor :P
Janire Coba: Yes!! In that event, you can find anything, and meet anyone.
BranwenAlcyone: I hope you keep that promise to yourself! And that's so true, I've made some very good friends during Fantasy Faire in the past, and hope it happens again this year!
BranwenAlcyone: Thank you so, so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to sit and chat with me :)
Janire Coba: It's been a pleasure to show you what's inside of this weird vintage girl *winks*
Janire Coba: I hope you enjoy the Faire to the fullest, because I will!

Fantasy Faire : deviousMind and Faeline Fairy

What lovely items and sights are in store for you, dear reader! Tomorrow, the Fairelands once again appear in SecondLife, giving us beautiful panoramas, exclusive items, and an immersive and fun Quest! And all this for an amazing cause, with each creator offering a special item, with a percentage of the profits going to Relay For Life. Be sure to join the free in-world group as well, to keep an eye on auctions, performances, literature readings, and more! There is always something happening on one of the many gorgeous sims during Fantasy Faire!

At the Faire, you can find two of the items I'm wearing: The Saki wings by Faeline Fairy and the Datura dress and accessories by deviousMind.

The Saki wings come in a few different colors, and have a menu with a LOT of options. They are both flexi and animated, so they have quite a bit of movement!

The Datura dress comes with a sheer version, opaque, and option lace add-on. And that's not even the half of it - all of the rose and leaf accessories in the picture are also options. I am a huge fan of customization, so this set it perfect to me! It also comes in Maitreya Lara, Slink Hourglass, and Slink Physique sizes.

Portal to the Underworld

Anachron - Underworld Gate Teleporter @ Genre

The newest round of Genre focus on all things "Underworld", including this amazing portal by Anachron. The glowing runes and swirling center (a little hard to see here!) are mesmerizing, and will definitely draw in unsuspecting visitors. The best part? The portal itself can be turned into a teleporter for magical or roleplay sims! Looks awesome, check. Is functional, double check!

Rockabilly Baby

My recent retro kick continues! This time, I blame Moon Elixir for this amazing pin up outfit, available at the Bloom event. Each skirt and top is 300L$, or 1000L$ for the fatpack of each (which is worth it, in my opinion). Also paired with it are the new, and adorable, glasses from the Belle Epoque "Pop Diner" set, which is currently at The Epiphany.

Pop Diner by Belle Epoque

The Epiphany opens tomorrow! If you're like me, you're waving "goodbye" to your wallet. One super exciting machine, to me, is the Pop Diner set by Belle Epoque. I think that fans of vintage and retro items are still underserved in SecondLife (try finding more than a couple 50s sims that are kept up-to-date with new mesh items, I dare ya! And if you find anything, let me know! :P ) so a gacha set featuring cute clothing AND decor is a big win. Belle Epoque proves once again why the brand is associated with sweet vintage themes.
