Yay! Lumae is participating in another round of The Avenue, where designers offer past creations at a steep discount. This time, Lumae has put out all 8 of the Ruby - Bare skins (exclusive for Catwa) for just L$245 per tone. Each shade of this gorgeous skin comes with bare and freckled versions, multiple cleavage options, and 6 choices of eyebrows, PLUS a heap of body appliers. I always, always say to demo first, but if you're a sucker for freckles like I am, this sale is a no-brainer!

Also by Lumae is this lovely headchain called Persephone, which can be found at the Ostara's Altar event. Each metal color is l$150, and the fatpack is L$495. Also included is a pretty crown of roses, and a HUD for the gemstones and roses.

Another thing you don't want to miss is the sale at Elikatira! They seem to do this sale seasonally, but it's always great to be able to grab hair packs for L$75! I went and snatched up a few more hairstyles, including the hair I'm wearing, Sybil.

A Series of Delicate Moments

One of my favorite things to do in SecondLife is to find a quiet place with beautiful landscaping. I'm always looking for spots for upcoming photos, but more than that I LOVE when a forest is designed well. I love exploring them, and finding hidden little things about them. It helps me take a break from my staggering to-do list, and just appreciate the skill and beauty that creators pour into the unique experience that is SL. Hopefully my photos show that, so that you can share in my quiet moments with me for a little while!

For this photo, my avatar is sporting the rare bodysuit from the Storybook machine at Lootbox. This machine is COST and SIZES. Though you have to win the rare to get the bodysuit, as per usual with Storybook items, I didn't raise an eyebrow because it's so well made! Sometimes the cost really is justified by the craftmanship. The bodysuit comes with an 8 color HUD, which is mostly solid metallic colors except for this gorgeous pearl color.

It's been over 24 hours since my last post,so you know I've just been bursting to show off more pretties! And the Ranger Cloak in the Lootbox from the .AiShA. machine *is* so pretty! I know that technically the set is named Ranger, but the ornate details and high collar just screams spellcaster to me, so I ran with that idea. Also, as a bonus, the new Celia boots bu Blueberry, found at Shoetopia, are a perfect match for the teal tunic from the .AiShA. machine, too! So I just had to talk myself into buying them, too... poor me!

The Ranger set is for Maitreya sizes only, and is L$75 per pull, and features 2 Lootbox options (a bow & leg quivers, or the cloaks), 9 common tunic colors, and two color versions of the shorts. All of the tunics are worth owning, and you can switch the trim between black and brown for each as well. Overall the set is well-made and fits great!

Yet another event that always makes my wallet a LOT lighter! I love when Lootbox comes around. Hosted on The Fantasy Collective sim, it does indeed have a heavy fantasy element to it. And you know when fantasy and gacha combine that I'll be there!

The first set I want to talk about from this round is The Wilds by Alchemy. To get this Lootbox exclusive outfit in full (horns, outfit, boots, staff, and fox companion), you have to win all 3 of the rares in the machine. Since the lootboxes themselves disappear once the round is over, never to be sold again, TRUST ME it's worth it to play! This machine only comes in Maitreya sizes and is 75L a pull, but it's very popular and extremely well-made, so I imagine resellers will find a bit of success with this one! That means that if you do miss out, keep your eyes peeled in yardsales and on the Marketplace for some steals!

I had been keeping an eye out for this gorgeous draped tunic by Jackalope for some time (even cammed into the event before it was open to grab a demo, shhh!) ... and then in the excitement of Skin Fair opening, FORGOT to come back to the anyBODY event and grab it! I went ahead and got the fatpack for L$1200 because I love it so much, but otherwise each of the 10 color options is just L$200.

I am always thrilled when new gothycute items come out. In this instance, I found the perfect skin, makeup, and outfit. The Wytch palette by Alaskametro goes great with the new Ella skin by Lumae (both found at the Skin Fair), and Moon Elixir won my heart again with their gorgeous robe and bodysuit set, now out at Mesh Body Addicts Bi-Monthly. Also out at Skin Fair are stunning eyes by .Euphoric, and I can't get enough of them! 

*A bit about the blog* Spring is an intense time for events! Between making sure I get the things that I *ahem* need and some RL busyness, I haven't had as much time for socializing, outings, hunts, and the like. Hopefully soon I can find some spare time and start blogging about other things that I enjoy in SecondLife. If nothing else, I really want to do more interviews with creators, since I really enjoyed sitting down with the owner of Lumae a couple of days ago. Item Spotlight : Lumae "Ella", Alaskametro "Wytch Palette", .Euphoric "Love Eyes"

Does anything go together as well as a Lumae bare skin and Alaskametro cosmetics? This is the palest tone (T1) of the Ella skin that Lumae has put out at the Skin Fair 2017, and a lipstick (blended in a bit) and eyeshadow from Alaskametro's "Wytch Palette" at the same event. Both fit my "Kimberly" bento head to perfection - AND - since Alaskametro really knows their stuff, I don't have to worry about the weird eyelash alpha glitch issue, which is a personal pet peeve of mine. Each of the skin tones is L$495 and has a whole slew of body appliers, and the makeup palette is a beyond reasonable L$75.

Also from Skin Fair 2017 is the .Euphoric "Love Eyes". These were a bit pricier, at L$580 per color pack, but I was shopping for Catwa applier eyes and these really hit the spot! Each pack comes with 8 color options that you can mix and match. (This particular shade is from the green pack.) It's SO nice to have some more options for eyes without having to fiddle with the fit of different mesh eyes every time. The eyes are fantastically well done, so I don't regret the price at all and will be buying from this brand in the future!

Item Spotlight : Moon Elixir "Boudoir"

I LOVE this robe. It comes with different color option for the corset and ribbon, and the bodysuit comes with a removable lower bra piece for some added flair! I went with all black (each color of robe and bodysuit is L$300), because the set has that Moon Elixir trademark smooth/shiny texture that makes everything pop. And how cute is it that one shoulder is bare? (That's a rhetorical question. It's SUPER cute, and we both know it.)

I finally got that rare Tableau Vivant hair from The Arcade that I wanted! (L$75 per pull, but editorial hair! Totally worth it.) So, of course, I had to use it in a picture A.S.A.P. It goes perfectly with this muzzle by Ama. (just L$99 at the Tie Me up event!) for a sinister, dangerous look. The new Ella skin for Catwa by Lumae (just released at the Skin Fair 2017 today! Just L$495 per tone with a tone of body appliers) suits my head perfectly, too!

One of Lumae's three offers for the upcoming annual Skin Fair is a bare version of the Catwa exclusive Ella skin. Each of the skins is painted for a different brand of mesh head (Catwa, LeLutka, and GA.EG) and comes in ten tones at L$495 each. Each of the three new skins are painted to perfection!


I also got a chance to sit down and chat with the reclusive Lumiya Rae, creator of the Lumae skin brand. You can read our conversation below!

BranwenAlcyone: First of all, hi and you're adorable!

Lumiya Rae: aww thank you :D you are too!

BranwenAlcyone: I just have a small set of questions, 
so feel free to answer (or not answer) as you like!

Lumiya Rae: sure thing :)

BranwenAlcyone: Customers always love having 
insight into the mind of the creators they buy from. 
What goes on in your head during your painting 
process?

Lumiya Rae: That's a good question! When I 
decide to create a new face, it can be a very daunting 
idea. I usually open up the base texture for whatever 
head I will be making something for and then kind of 
see what speaks to me. Sometimes I might have been 
wearing a particular mesh head for a while and will 
take note of some of the features it has, like a 
poutier mouth or the shape of the cheekbones.. and 
that might inspire me to work more on those particular 
areas. A lot of the time, how a skin turns out has no 
bearing on where it begins! It can be quite 
interesting to see how an idea will suddenly pop up to 
change something half way through. It is quite a 
flowing process though.. most of the time I just let 
the moment take me with it and see what happens!

BranwenAlcyone: It does seem like a lot of 
creative processes happen just like that! I know it 
can be hard to rush that. How long would you say a 
typical skin takes you, from start to finish?

Lumiya Rae: From beginning to getting ready to 
upload into SL it can take anywhere from 3 days to a 
week or more if it is being particularly uncooperative 
lol .. I remember while working on the newest skins 
for one head brand I was having a hard time with the 
nose and the lips and that one took over 3 weeks to 
get it to the point where I was relatively happy with 
it. I'm a crazy perfectionist, so if I see even the 
smallest detail wrong I will go back again and again 
to try to fix it as much as possible.. though 
sometimes you just can't and you have to learn to live 
with it or go insane lol .. but generally the faces 
behave themselves.

Lumiya Rae: The toughest part is when a new 
head is released and you have to check the features on 
it against your base texture.. then fix things to that 
particular brands UV so you get the best fit possible. 
That can be the longest part.

BranwenAlcyone: As a long time customer, I'll 
say that your perfectionist nature has paid off! Your 
newest skins especially have fit each brand of head 
perfectly. Speaking of your new skins, you are 
releasing three new ones for the annual Skin Fair. Is 
that as huge an undertaking as it seems?

Lumiya Rae: Thank you! It really is satisfying 
to see the faces I paint come to life on each mesh 
head and how they are given their personalities 
through the people who wear them! This years Skin Fair 
was one of the more intense ones I have been a part 
of. Usually at the annual Skin Fair, I release a new 
generation of skins which involves new body paintwork, 
sometimes new tones and new faces... This year I had 
to postpone the 2017 generation of skins due to  
unforeseen circumstances, which happened right at the 
last minute! Thankfully I did have two faces that I 
had released with make up versions last month at two 
events.. I was going to save them for the updated 
body.. but decided to release those with the idea of 
updating the body as soon as possible. Then I made a 
brand new face for another head brand that I hadn't 
worked with before. That was the biggest challenge for 
me as I was quickly running out of time! But pressure 
paid off in this instance! The Skin Fair is a huge 
deal though... there is no other time you will
get so many skin designers 
together and it is amazing for exposure and 
introducing your brand to new people. You really want 
to be at your best for it. I'm hoping that I could do 
that this year even without the new generation to back 
me up!

BranwenAlcyone: As exciting as the repainted 
body is, it was really great to see a new face for the 
GA.EG head. A hallmark of your brand seems to be 
accessibility, whether it's through being affordable 
or making sure that you have a huge array of different 
appliers for customers to choose from. Is that an 
intentional part of the Lumae brand, or does it 
reflect you more as a person?

Lumiya Rae: I've never been a person who likes 
exclusivity .. which is why it was always so hard for 
me to transition from including all head appliers to 
having to release them individually. I want people to 
be able to enjoy their Second Life to the fullest.. 
and I will always try to give the widest possible 
support to the ever growing market of Mesh head brands 
and bodies. In many ways, releasing the skins per head 
brand has allowed me to release appliers for brands I 
probably never would have if I kept them all in one 
package.. which makes me happy because I know that 
someone somewhere will find it and be thrilled that 
their head is supported. I'm a very inclusive person 
and I like people to be happy.. so I have always tried 
to be as accessible as possible through my work and as 
a designer and person in SL.

BranwenAlcyone: Elitism and exclusivity does 
run rampant in SecondLife sometimes. It's always 
really nice as a customer to be able to find something 
you love for a price you can afford. And it does seem 
that you've been able to release skins more steadily 
now that you aren't trying to make every skin fit 
every brand of head!

BranwenAlcyone: After a well-deserved break 
after the Skin Fair rush, what's next for you as a 
designer?

Lumiya Rae: I have found my love of making 
skins has returned with being able to release skins 
individually for each head brand as I am able to 
concentrate on that particular brands style instead of 
having to try to warp each skin to fit each head for a 
universal release.. it is much less pressure and as a 
result I can release more and so people have more 
options which is always good! As for after the Skin 
Fair.. I have a couple more events lined up this month 
to release things for, but the main focus will go back 
to getting the new 2017 body finished and released and 
then I am hoping to finish the male skins that I have 
been teasing for a long while!

BranwenAlcyone: I know a lot of folks with 
male avatars have been waiting for a male Lumae 
release! That will make a lot of people very happy. I 
myself look forward to snatching up everything you 
release!

BranwenAlcyone: Thank you for taking the time

Item Spotlight : Tableau Vivant "Hairplay - Side Blow"

I'm still hunting for the rares from this set, but who doesn't love editorial hair?! The Hairplay set by Tableau Vivant is full of motion and is perfect for romantic and adventurous photos. The machine is L$75 a pull, but each of the 4 styles is worth owning in every color!

Item Spotlight : Moon Elixir "Marauder - Boots"

Each of the components to the Marauder set (corset, boots, shorts with belt, pouch, and knife, shirt with optional long sleeves) is L$250. While I do wish there was a fatpack version for the complete outfit in every color, there is currently a fatpack choice of buying each item in every color. That being said, I do like to mix and match! I am in LOVE with these boots - they have a heavy fantasy element with lots of detail, but still manage to look as though I can kick in a door or two while wearing them. The string and metal colors come with a HUD, so you can coordinate your boots to the rest of your outfit.

Item Spotlight : Fallen Gods, Inc. "Rebirth"

The Rebirth tattoo is one of 3 new ones unveiled at We <3 Rolepay by Fallen Gods, Inc. this month. Fallen Gods, Inc. does some of the best fantasy tattoos in SecondLife, and I'm pretty pleased with this one! The Rebirth tattoo is unisex, and comes with system layers and Omega appliers. As such, there is a bit of distortion around the breast. Considering the tattoo is priced at a super reasonable L$84, I can't complain too much! The rest of the tattoo is nicely detailed and doesn't distort noticeable on my Maitreya body. It's also super nice that it isn't 100% symmetrical, as I tend to find tattoos that are (beyond fantasy swirly designs or something) a little unrealistic and boring. Overall, definitely worth the price, though I do wish there were male and female versions.
